January has always been a busy time for my business. Crazy isn't it! Just when you think you can slack off a little and take a breather; it gets busy. Lampshades are not a really a big holiday gift although it is a pretty busy time finishing up projects for my customers.
I have had a couple really nice press articles for my shop in December. The first press was from the new Lighting Trade Journal, Enlightenment. I was included with some of the smaller lamp shade makers, including fellow lampshade maker, Susan Schneider. Here is the link for the article. Great free magazine if your are in the business.
I was also interviewed a few weeks ago in my local paper, The Rutland Herald. Here is the link. Thanks Joanna Tebbs. We met years ago when I spoke at The Woman's Business Network at The Equinox Hotel. Nice interview and always good press.
Not much snow here in Pawet. We've got some excitement in the village with renovations at our general store. If you've followed my blog our general store had struggled, we tried to help it with a bandaid and now it has closed. BUT, looks like there is exciting news to come. Too early to share the news, although I feel optimistic as I have been all along. More to come at a latter date.
I've also signed up to be at The Brimfield Flea Market again in May and September. I was going to take a break, then decided to try a new spot and also do the fall show, too. ( had to do the fall to get the good spot..... oh life can be a racket... ) Anyway, I'll be at The New England Motel Antique Show- the show I've done the past bunch of years- it's by the food court! Booth #103. It a great spot- on the main entryway. I think it may make a difference- if the weather is good.
Just finished this Drum Lamp Shade. Here's the link in my Etsy Shop. Amazing Fortuny Fabric. Just beautiful!
And one more Drum Shade.
Burr, it's January cold here! Today I posted on FB that I looked like a bag lady... the uggs, the sweats, the t neck, several sweaters... whatever it takes to stay warm in the bitter cold. Hey, got lots done, UPS/Etsy orders out and more work started!
Stay warm. No workshops this year; still taking a breather. Just too much to do! My book is still available, and I'm always here if you have questions- message me easy on my Lake's Lampshades FB page and give me a like while your there!
Happy New Year,
cheers to lots of new creativity in 2015.
